Okay, so I'm a couple of days late. Things have been out of control in my world for a few weeks now, and with all the hubbub at work, and the rush to make it through Taste Texas, I just ran out of day to get this done on Friday. I know that many of you plan your entire week around this feature (I'm just kidding btw), so I didn't want to let you all down by completely skipping it this week. Therefore, here it is - The GoodCall me self serving, call me an arrogant bastard, call me..., whatever,...

Last night's Taste Texas Twitter tasting with Mandola Estate Winery was a big success, with over 50 people tweeting more than 500 times about the wines of this Texas Hill Country winery. In addition to those who were tweeting about the wines, there were tweetups being held all around the state. The fun thing about any wine tasting is the people that you share the wine with, and this event was no exception. I had a great time sharing these wines with some friends here in West Texas, and I also enjoyed getting to spend some time talking about Mandola...

Today I'm rounding out the field of featured bloggers for Taste Texas (though there are some other great bloggers that will be participating, and I will make sure and throw some love their way after the tasting). Jim Wilkerson is easily one of my favorite wine reviewers, throwing down some serious wine knowledge on his VINEgeek blog, and in a really enjoyable and approachable style. He is the founding father of Mourvèdre Monday, and I also love his free associations that he includes in each review. Jim resides in the Austin area of Texas, and was one of the first...

One of the great things about working on organizing the Taste Texas Twitter tasting has been getting to know some of my fellow bloggers a little better. One of the blogger tandems that I was really looking forward to getting to know a little better are the power-couple behind Another Wine Blog, Joe Power and Amy Corron Power. Joe and Amy are both outstanding writers and are active on Twitter (@HoustonWino and @WineWonkette). I always know that I can count on them for insightful and passionate wine writing, and some great photography by Amy. Joe and Amy were kind enough...

If you were to ask me for the one person who I most associate with Texas wine, the first name that would come to mind is Russ Kane. Based on his extensive knowledge and experience with Texas wine, one could hardly argue against Russ Kane for the title of Texas Wine Czar. In addition to writing the VintageTexas blog, he has organized numerous wine events around the state, been a judge at tastings, and he started the Houston chapter of the Wine Society of Texas. I am very proud to have Russ Kane participating in Taste Texas, and hope that...

We are down to the final countdown to the Mandola Estate Winery Taste Texas tasting, and I've been working my way through profiles of the bloggers who will be participating in the event with me. Today I'm talking with a fellow Texas resident, Melanie Ofenloch from www.dallaswinechick.com. I have been following Melanie's blog since day one, and have really enjoyed getting to know her on Twitter (@melanie0). Melanie really knows her wine, and has an obvious passion for it. Her writing is elegant and informative, and really makes you feel like you are a part of the events that she...
